Two walks starting in Sydney Gardens with Richard White
Come along for one or both of these walking conversations speculating for truths in reluctant heritage and uncomfortable histories.
Listening for unheard stories….
Curious and open minded walkers of all ages welcome.
10.30 – 13.00 A Sultan, the Grotto and Sugar: a walk under and out of the western edge of the park sensing legacies of slave ownership and the East India Company (see separate listing)
14.00 – 16.30 Convicts, circuses and automata: a walk along the axis of the park and beyond, sensing Sydney and imagining a Black horseman in Bath
What we will do:
We walk, listen, ask questions and share. Walkers will be invited to participate actively using notebooks and sketchbooks, taking photos and making instant poetry and other sounds, but you can just listen and walk if you choose! There will be moments to discuss and moments to reflect. Richard will be sharing some of his latest research and testing out sound materials generated from his residency at The Studio, Bath Spa University’s city centre space for artists and creative technologists.
Come for both walks, bring a picnic and continue the discussion in the break.
The intention is for this to be fun and serious, a thought provoking experience. There may be some surprises and new discoveries, even for Bath residents!
Come to one or both.
