The Two Tunnels route is a great way to get straight from the city centre to the countryside and to Wessex Water’s Tucking Mill  reservoir and along to view Midford Castle.  During the 2017 Walking Festival, Wessex Water led a fascinating walk covering the history of the tunnels, the geology, rich industrial heritage and the wildlife found at the reserve.  When going unaccompanied, there are steps down from the Two Tunnels pathway to the nature reserve, rather than the fully accessible route that we were fortunate to take.

There and back is about 5 miles, it took us four hours, with a picnic, talking and fossil hunting stop.
