Somer Valley Walking Festival Saturday programme of shorter walks exploring the industrial heritage of the area from a range of starting points.

 

Paulton Engine and Paulton Basin from the Paulton Library Hub, BS39 7QG

2pm A 1.5 hour circular walk taking in reminders of the Industrial Revolution in Paulton.  The walk is not strenuous but there is one hill.  Please, no dogs except assistance dogs which must be on a short lead.

This walk will be led by Anne Lyons & Jackie Woodland

 

 Timsbury and High Littleton Circular from The Connies Tea Room, The Square, Timsbury, BA2 0HY

2pm A 4 mile circular walk round the former Somerset Coalfield walking close to the house used by William Smith, the pioneering geologist.

This walk will be led by John Bull 

 

Westfield Village Walk from the shops at Elm Tree Road, Westfield, BA3 3SX

2pm A 4 mile circular walk around the village of Westfield visiting interesting landmarks of this fomer mining village.

This walk will be led by parish councillor, Geoff Fuller

 

 History Walk from Radstock Museum, Waterloo Road, Radstock, BA3 3EP

2pm A 3 mile circular walk to the village of Haydon looking at traces of the mining heritage of the area.

This walk will be led by Sue Sparkes 

 

How to Join In!

These notes relate to Somer Valley Walking Festival, not the rest of the Bathscape Walking Festival

Places are limited.  You are welcome to turn up on the day, but if you wish to guarantee a place, call 01225 477265 or email info@bathscape.co.uk

Children:  Under 18s must be accompanied by an adult on all the walks.

Dogs:  Well behaved dogs, on a short lead, are welcome unless otherwise specified.

What should I wear/bring?  For all the walks, appropriate footwear should be worn.  For the longer walks, walking boots are recommended.  Please dress for changes in the weather with layers, waterproofs, hat and sunscreen.  Please bring any food or drink you may need.  If you would like to bring your own OS map, you will need Explorer 142.

Accessibility: Please note that the walks are on uneven ground and are therefore unlikely to be suitable for pushchairs or wheelchairs.
