A historic tour of Sydney Gardens.

The tour will explore the development of Sydney Gardens from its creation as a Georgian fantasy world where thousands gathered, to the peaceful park of today. Come on a gentle stroll through the grounds and through layers of fascinating history – find out about the extraordinary Merlins Swing, the Labyrinth, and the illuminating entertainments of years gone by.

Kirsten Elliott has been guiding tours in Bath on a wide variety of subjects for over thirty years. One of her earliest areas of research was the history of the pleasure gardens of Georgian Bath, her particular favourite being Sydney Gardens. Kirsten also writes about Bath and is one half of the publishers Akeman Press: www.akemanpress.com / @AkemanPress

This event is part of the Sydney Gardens Parks for People Project.   This project is running a specially designed programme of events and activities from September 2017 to May 2018 to test out what park users, residents and communities would like to see happening in the park in the future.
